What made you want to work at Flintridge Sacred Heart?

Flintridge Sacred Heart is an institution that shares my deep commitment to faith, integrity, and truth.  I also believe in and value single-sex education, as I attended a women's college.

What has been your proudest professional accomplishment?

Obtaining my Ph.D in 2010.  I was the first person in my family to reach such accomplishment.

What has been your favorite teaching moment at Flintridge Sacred Heart?

Seeing the reaction of the students when they realize and understand how science is connected to their everyday lives.

What most excites you about your work at Flintridge Sacred Heart?

Helping students gain scientific literacy.  I also love having conversations with my colleagues about teaching strategies and classroom activities in order to better serve our students.

What is Flintridge Sacred Heart's best kept secret?

The Science Department.  When I first started working at Flintridge Sacred Heart, I was extremely impressed with the level of scientific research that the students were doing.

What do you love about the all-girls environment at Flintridge Sacred Heart?

The environment is very collaborative.  Students seem more comfortable with actively participating in class.  

What is your favorite spot on campus?

The terrace by the pool overlooking Pasadena. 

When not in the classroom/office, where can you be found?

Relaxing under a tree at the park; Altadena 图书馆; at my church

What's your favorite place in the world?

Birmingham, Alabama!  There's no place like home!

What are you surprisingly good at?

烹饪!  I especially like preparing Southern comfort food.

Who has made the biggest impact on your life?

My parents.

What book, movie, work of art, piece of music, etc. can you not imagine life without?

Alvin Ailey American 跳舞 Theater "Revelations"

What did you want to be when you grew up (at age 12)?

A radiation oncologist

What do you want to be when you grow up (now)?

A philanthropist and global missionary
